Joseph Gordon-Levitt to host 2013 Sundance Film Festival

Filmmaker and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been announced as the presenter of 2013 Sundance Film Festival Awards Ceremony, which will be taking place on January 26 in Park City, Utah.

The 31 year-old starlet, who has appeared in seven movies at the festival, including “Brick”, “Mysterious Skin”, and the indie gem “(500) Days of Summer”, will take the chance to charm audiences on a different level as his feature film directorial debut, “Don Jon’s Addiction”, will screen in the out-of-competition Premieres section.

As a director, Gordon-Levitt saw his first short film, “Sparks”, premiered at the 2009 Festival and he had a live performance event at the 2012 Festival. His online production company hitRecord also had a featured installation in New Frontier in 2010.

Sundance Film Festival Director, John Cooper, is pleased to see Gordon-Levitt leading the show as he believes the artist will bring a different flow to the show. Cooper said: “Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s accomplished and original artistic perspectives have contributed greatly to Sundance Institute and the independent film community. As host, he is sure to add flair to our Awards Ceremony in similarly exciting ways, and we are thrilled that he will join us in recognizing outstanding achievements at this year’s Festival.”

Sundace Institute has also confirmed that awards for short films will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 22 at Park City’s Jupiter Bowl.

The Festival will take place from January 17 to 27 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah, and will be live-streamed at www.sundance.org/festival.
