\"\"<\/a>The Walt Disney Studios has recently announced that production on the feature film \u201cMaleficent\u201d, which stars Academy-winning actress Angelina Jolie, began on June 13.<\/p>\n

The movie tells the untold story of Maleficent, the villain from 1959\u2019s fairytale \u201cSleeping Beauty\u201d, and reveals the events that made her to become one of Disney\u2019s universe darkest characters- Sleeping Beauty\u2019s evil enemy- and how she was driven to curse baby Aurora.<\/p>\n

Two-time Oscar-winning production designer Robert Stromerg (\u201cAvatar\u201d and \u201cAlice in Wonderland\u201d) makes his directorial debut with this film, which is executive produced by Jolie herself, Don Hahn, Matt Smith and Palak Patel.<\/p>\n

Imelda Stauton, Miranda Richards, \u201cDistrict 9\u201d \u2019s Sharlton Cople, Sam Riley, Elle Fanning and Lesley Manville co-star.<\/p>\n

Behind-the-scenes there is a strong line up including Oscar-winner cinematographer Dean Semler (\u201cDances with Wolfes\u201d, \u201cIn the Land of Blood and Honey\u201d), and \u201cSaving Private Ryan\u201d and \u201cThe Bourne Supremacy\u201d \u2019s production designer Gary Freeman.<\/p>\n

Anna B. Sheppard, doubly Oscar nominee for \u201cThe Schindler\u2019s List\u201d and \u201cThe Pianist\u201d leads the costume designing team, while multi-awarded Rick Baker (\u201cPlanet of the Apes\u201d, \u201cMen in Black\u201d) is responsible for make-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaleficent\u201d, produced by Joe Roth and written by Linda Woolverton (\u201cThe Lion King\u201d, \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d), will be released in 3D and is set to hit EUA theatres on March 14, 2014.<\/p>\n
