La banda de heavy metal System of a Down está de vuelta con nueva música tras 15 años sin lanzar material.
El cuarteto liderado por el cantante Serj Tankian ha sorprendido este viernes a sus fanes con la publicación de dos canciones nuevas en Bandcamp tituladas Protect the Land y Genocidal Humanoidz.
Los nuevos temas de System of a Down hablan sobre la guerra actual en sus países de origen
El nuevo material narra la crisis política actual en Artsakh y Armenia, países natales de los integrantes del grupo.
En un comunicado publicado en la página de Bandcamp de System of a Down, la banda ha dicho: «Estamos orgullosos de compartir estas canciones con vosotros y esperamos que disfrutéis escuchándolas. Además, os animamos a que sigáis leyendo sobre ello para conocer sobre sus orígenes y una vez lo hayáis hecho, esperamos que os inspire a denunciar las horribles injusticias y las violaciones de derechos humanos que ocurren allí ahora mismo.»
El grupo también ha lanzado un vídeo para Protect the Land, el cual incluye metraje real de los enfrentamientos y protestas en Artsakh.
El clip ha sido realizado por el premiado cineasta Ara Soudjian y el bajista de System of a Down, Shavo Odadjian.
Las ganancias de los dos nuevos temas serán donados a Armenian Fund, la cual proporcionará ayuda y suministros básicos a personas afectadas por el conflicto.

Protect the Land y Genocidal Humanoidz, el primer material tras «Hypnotize» (Columbia, 2005) es un golpe de aire fresco y representa una «voz unificada».
System of a Down recientemente había acaparado las portadas debido a las diferencias políticas entre el batería John Dolmayan, un seguidor de Donald Trump reconocido públicamente, y el vocalista Serj Tankian, quien invitó a Trump a dejar su cargo después de ver cómo había gestionado las protestas #BlackLivesMatter por la muerte de George Floyd.
Tanto Tankian como Dolmayan han hecho algunas declaraciones públicas para reforzar su respeto mutuo, a pesar de sus diferencias de opinión a nivel político.
Los nuevos temas son una prueba de que System of a Down son una unidad fuerte y que sus integrantes pueden seguir creando música juntos a pesar de contar con opiniones dispersas en cuanto a política se refiere.

System of a Down’s new songs talk about the current war in their ancestral homelands
The new material addresses the current political crisis in Artsakh and Armenia, the band members’ homelands.
On a statement published on System of a Down’s Bandcamp page, the band said: «We’re proud to share these songs with you and hope you enjoy listening to them. Further, we encourage you to read on to learn more about their origins and once you do, hope you are inspired to speak out about the horrific injustices and human rights violations occurring there now.»
The group has also unveiled a video for Protect the Land, which features real footage of recent clashes and protests in Artsakh.
The video has been directed by the award-winning filmmaker Ara Soudjian and System of a Down’s bassist Shavo Odadjian.
Proceeds from the two new songs will be donated to the Armenian Fund, which will give aid and basic supplies for people affected by the conflict.

John Dolmayan, a publicly recognized Donald Trump supporter, and vocalist Serj Tankian, who called Trump to resign after the way he handled George Floyd’s protests (#BlackLivesMatter).
Both Tankian and Dolmayan addressed their political differences publicly stating they don’t always agree, but respect each other’s opinion.
The two new releases show that System of a Down is a strong unity and their members can still create music together in spite their diverse political opinions.
