Muse to become Olympic Gods with Survival

Rock heroes Muse announced yesterday they have been chosen to provide the official song for London 2012 Olympic Games.

The new Queen-inspired anthem, Survival, which was revealed yesterday on BBC Radio 1 during Zane Lowe’s show, will be played at various sport sessions at official Games venues, including key moments like where athletes enter the stadium or pick up a medal. The song will also be used by TV channels broadcasting the Games.

Yesterday, the Devon trio made an appearance on the London 2012 official press conference to present the “Rock The Games” programme and frontman Matt Bellamy said: “It’s a huge honour to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games. I wrote it with the Games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win.”

In addition to Muse’s track, four other songs have been specially written for “Rock The Games”, including tunes from Elton John joined by Pnau, Delphic, Chemical Brothers and Dizzie Rascal.

Survival, which is now available from iTunes, is the first taste of Muse sixth studio album, “The 2nd Law” (Warner Bros. Records), which is set for release in September 18.
