Aerosmith to headline Download Festival 2014

Legendary rock band Aerosmith has been named as the third headline act to perform on next year’s Download Festival.

Steven Tyler and Co. will be closing the music extravaganza on Sunday June 15, after slots from Avenged Sevenfold on Friday June 13 and Linkin Park on Saturday June 14.

Joining “The Bad Boys from Boston” on the main stage as main support will be hard rockers, Alter Bridge.

Aerosmith have been in the music industry for over 40 years and have been crowned as the best-selling American rock band in history after selling 150 million records.

This show will be their first on UK soil since 2010. Speaking about their triumphant comeback, lead guitarist Joe Perry said: “It’s been too long since we’ve been to England and we’re sincerely f**ing charged to be coming back! See you there.”

After selling out arenas across the country on their recent UK tour, Alter Bridge will take the chance to play one more time their 4th studio album, “Fortress” (Roadrunner, EMI), which was released earlier this year to huge critical acclaim, and hit the #1 spot on the rock charts.

Rob Zombie has been confirmed as special guest and main support on Friday, with Fall Out Boy playing the following night.

Two-times Grammy winners Linkin Park will deliver for the first time ever their muti-platinum debut album “Hybrid Theory” (Warner Bros., 2000) in its entirety as part of their set.

Singer Chester Bennington said: “We have been kicking around the idea of playing “Hybrid Theory” for some time and the perfect opportunity is Download 2014. The legendary energy of the Download crowd is the apex of the rock experience and we are very excited to share this special night with them.”
