Another best-selling video game franchise is getting the TV treatment.

Netflix has confirmed that is working on a live-action show based on Capcom’s popular survival-horror series of video games, “Resident Evil“.

The first season of the show, consisting on eight episodes, will explain a brand new story that spans across two different timelines.

In the first one, we will see the adventures of two 14-year-old sisters named Jade and Billie Wesker who move to the corporate town of New Raccoon City.

The girls will discover soon that their destination is nothing what they expected and that their father “may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world.”

In the second one, we travel to the future and we find a 30-year-old Jade who is struggling to survive in a new post-apocalyptic world overrun by six billion monsters: people and animals infected with a T-virus.

All of this while the secrets of her past, concerning her family, continue to haunt her.

Netflix’s adaptation of “Resident Evil” will be helmed by one of Supernatural’s co-showrunners

The new series will be written by Andrew Dabb, known for his work in “Supernatural” as an executive producer, writer and co-showrunner, and directed by Bronwen Hughes (“The Walking Dead“).

The show will be produced by Constantin Film, the studio that produced the six films from the “Resident Evil” franchise helmed by Paul W.S Anderson, starred by Milla Jovovich, and which currently is positioned as the highest-grossing film series based on a video game ($1.2 billion worldwide).

Talking about the new adaptation of the video game for Netflix, Dabb said: “”Resident Evil” is my favorite game of all time. I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever “Resident Evil” series to Netflix members around the world.

For every type of “Resident Evil” fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”

Cast from the Netflix adaptation of the legendary video game still remain a mystery for now. More details will be released soon.

“Resident Evil” isn’t the only video game turned into a TV show that is currently in the works.

Netflix is working on the second season of “The Witcher” and Showtime is developing a science fiction series based on the “Halo” franchise.
