Tim Burton‘s acclaimed animated film, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, is getting a sequel young adult novel that will tell Sally’s story.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” novel: A new adventure for Sally
This new book written by NYT bestselling author Shea Ernshaw, creator of the popular novels “The Wicked Deep” and “Winterwood”, puts the spotlight on a new adventure starring the famous ragdoll created by Burton in 1994.
The novel takes place right after the events of Burton’s movie, when Sally is married to Jack Skellington and hosts the title of the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town.
Her world turns upside down when she finds a new doorway near the grove of holiday and by accident she sets loose a mysterious villain who threatens to ruin Halloween Town.
Then, Sally ventures on thrilling journey to other holiday worlds to save Jack and her Halloween Town friends, while uncovering a few secrets about her own past.
Talking about her new novel, Ernshaw said: “I hope that readers will feel like they’ve tumbled down a much-too-dark rabbit hole, into one of Tim Burton’s wonderfully macabre worlds.”
In a recent Q&A provided to io9 blog, Ernshaw added: ““[It] will hopefully give fans a long-awaited second dose of Sally, Jack, and all the familiar residents of Halloween Town, while introducing a new cast of grim, strange characters, that I hope readers will love.”
Exploring Sally’s identity and her new role as the Pumpkin Queen
With this new novel inspired on “The Nightmare Before Christmas” universe created by Burton, Ernshaw expects to add some light about Sally’s indentity and her new role as the Pumpking Queen, as well as give some insights about her “desires, doubts, and dreams.”
This new sequel book centered on Sally’s story is set to be published by Disney Books in July 2022.
